There was considerable discussion about the assessment of student learning in the collaborative development of the Educational Technology and E-Learning Module. The Sheffield University team were experienced in designing e-learning courses in which there was considerable self and peer assessment, and we wanted to explore the possibility of introducing this into the new Sino-UK Module. Colleagues at Beijing Normal University were extremely interested in this, although they had no direct experience of incorporating it into their courses. These were some of the questions we addressed:

In order to aid our discussions on assessment, we jointly drafted a learner guide template, that included a specification for an e-portfolio and the use of case studies.

Although the final pilot presentation of the Module did not allow us to fully implement self-peer-tutor assessment, we did incorporate some aspects of collaborative assessment into some of the Module Units.
