Introduction

Welcome to the eChina-UK programme
The Sino-UK eLearning Programme (eChina~UK) is a collaborative eLearning initiative, funded in the UK by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and supported by the Chinese Ministry of Education (MoE).

eChina~UK comprises a number of teacher training projects in which British and Chinese teams have been working collaboratively to develop and pilot eLearning materials. In addition, a research team has been conducting overarching research.

It has facilitated a genuine cultural and educational exchange between China and the UK and this is of great value. A spirit of co-operation and support has been established which can serve as a model for future collaboration between the Chinese and UK HE sectors. The different historical backgrounds to, and the various ongoing aims of, technology-enhanced-learning within the two sectors are fascinating and it is important to explore the implications of these differences."
